Can I have gemstones in my titanium jewellery?

Setting stones in titanium can be a challenge at times. Because titanium is so tough, it can easily and rapidly damage the tools stone setters use, and easily damage the stones that are set within the tough metal. With years of experience and excellent equipment, our stone setters here at Ti2 Titanium are not daunted with undertaking setting projects. “It’s just a case of taking extra care with the stones and being forceful, yet precise with the metal” says Abi. “I need to repolish my tools much more frequently when setting in titanium and I expect to get through many more cutting burrs. However, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as seeing diamonds held tightly within titanium and knowing every cut has been made by my own hand. Diamonds are my preferred stone of choice to set within titanium because of the hardness of diamonds, they’re much more resilient to the pressure of setting it titanium, and much less likely to break, although not unbreakable!!”

Here at Ti2 Titanium, along with diamonds, we also set softer, precious gemstones such as Amethyst, Peridot, Blue Topaz, Iolite, Garnet and Cubic Zirconia. These are usually set within a bezel type setting, but smaller stones can also be flush set into rings. This gives our customers flexibility to add that personal touch to their jewellery. Birthstone jewellery can be a very popular gift idea and makes Christmas, birthday and special day shopping a bit easier when you’re stuck for ideas.
